Matt Connelly was recently named “one of the rising political stars” in the Denver area by Denverite and has worked nationally on four Presidential campaigns and multiple statewide campaigns in both Colorado and California.
As Cory Gardner’s Press Secretary in the 2014 Colorado Senate race, Connelly helped elect Gardner to the United States Senate in one of the closest and most-watched races in the country. Connelly’s experience on multiple statewide political campaigns in Colorado, including his time as Press Secretary for The Colorado GOP and Communications Director for the Colorado Senate Republicans, have given him firsthand knowledge of Colorado politics at the highest levels.
Following Cory Gardner’s successful 2014 campaign, Connelly worked as the National Press Secretary for the National Republican Senatorial Committee and went on to be the Traveling Press Secretary for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Connelly’s previous national campaign work also includes serving as the Regional Press Secretary at the Republican National Committee during Governor Mitt Romney’s 2012 Presidential bid, Deputy Communications Director for Governor Jon Huntsman’s 2012 Presidential campaign, and Deputy War Room Manager in Senator John McCain’s 2008 campaign.
Immediately after receiving his degree from The Catholic University of America, Connelly moved to California where he served as Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Newsroom Manager and later his Deputy Press Secretary. Connelly also added to his knowledge of California politics while serving as Deputy Press Secretary on Steve Poizner’s 2010 bid for Governor.
